Why major corps want to buy copyright versus a license

It’s not unusual for commercial photography clients, especially larger or major corporations, to want to purchase copyright instead of a use license for the photos you produce for them. Many major corporations don’t want to deal with all the details of rights management for licensed images and the possibility of being in a situation where they could be facing a copyright infringement lawsuit so they request copyright ownership of the photos.
Copyright ownership can be transferred from you, the photographer, to the corporate client in the commercial photography service contract or via a copyright transfer agreement.
